Cost

I have a lovely office in SE Portland.  Sessions take place in my office and are 50 to 90 minutes in length.  A 90 minute session needs to be scheduled ahead of time and is useful in fully processing an EMDR session.

Rates are as follows:

50 minute individual session: $145

50 minute intake session: $155

50 minute family session: $160

30 minute add on time for EMDR session (not covered by insurance): $70

I offer a free 30 minute consultation to determine if we are a good match for counseling. This can be over the phone or in person.

I reserve availability for sliding scale appointments to make my services more affordable to those who need that option.  Go to this website for a listing of free and low cost counseling:

Telephone consultations are charged at the 50 minute hourly rate after the first 15 minutes.

Payment is due at the time of your appointment.  I accept cash, checks and credit cards. Currently I accept Blue Cross/Blue ShieldCigna Behavioral Health, Aetna, and I can bill as an out-of-network provider.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance or you will be charged what your insurance pays me per session.  If we can reschedule for that week or do a telehealth session that day, there is no charge.  I am always open to talking about how this feels for you.  If I am not able to attend a session I will do my best to give you 24 hour notice or reschedule for later that week.  If I cannot do either of those your next session will be free.

Why I Enforce the Cancellation and Payment Policy:

  • An aspect of engaging in personal development work involves taking responsibility for one’s decisions and actions, as well as developing a greater awareness of how we impact one another.

  • It strengthens our working relationship. When we respect each other’s time, our working relationship is enhanced and protected and time is used wisely.

  • With the commitment and value to our time together comes an enhanced commitment to your personal work and therefore, is incentive toward further progress.

  • More people are able to be served when they need it. Cancelling your appointment with as much advance notice as possible potentially allows another person or family to get in the door on short notice.

  • The health of my counseling business is protected. When my business is functioning well, my ability to provide you the highest level of care and attention is strengthened.
